Pliskova is chasing her first Grand Slam victory and comes to Australia with a WTA victory in her back as she combed home the Brisbane competitions for the third time in four years.

In the meeting with Siegemund, Pliskova lost his own serve early in the match and ended up in sub-1-3. Then she won six straight clips and could quite easily play home the victory after an hour and 27 minutes.

World set and home player Ashleigh Barty also had a successful day in Australia, when she and German Julia Goerges beat home pair Moore and Sharma in the first round of the doubles.
