Dubai International Basketball Championship celebrates, at seven o'clock this evening, the 31st edition, with the start of the opening match, which is the 850 in the history of the tournament, which started in 1989, when the team faces the Mighty Sport team at Al-Ahly Youth Club in Dubai. The championship competitions will continue until the first of next February, and 11 of the Asian and African continent teams and clubs will compete for its title. At nine o'clock this evening, the Lebanese athlete will launch the defense of his title by meeting the American University team in Dubai.

For 30 years, 275 teams participated in the championship, competing in 849 games. And the most present in the history of the competition is the national team, which today records its 14th history, alongside the Lebanese athlete who holds the record as the most winning team with seven titles.

The current version is marked by a strong return to the Syrian basket, after the ban on its participation in the Arab world was lifted, through the participation of Al Wathba for the first time in the championship, and it competes in the first group with the Lebanese athlete and Hobbs, the Alexandrian Federation, Sala Al-Maghribi, and the American University in Dubai. Likewise, the Syrian Federation is in the second group with the national team, the Philippine Mighty Sport, the Beirut Beirut, and the Tunisian Radsi Star.
