During the California PGA Tour, amateurs get the chance to play side by side with the pros. And it was during Thursday at West Stadium that American amateur golfer Laurent Hurtubise stole all the attention.

Hurtubise was born with a right arm that ends roughly in height with the elbow and has been playing left-handed golf since childhood.

After the hit, he was widely praised by a number of professional players on site. Among other things, her partner for the day, triple PGA Tour winner Troy Merritt.

- It was the coolest thing I ever experienced on a golf course, Meritt tells pgatour.com

But no rookie is Hurtubise. The stroke was his third hole in one of his career.

- He was calm as a file pile. It was unreal, says another PGA Tour winner Greg Chalmers.

For the magazine Desert Sun, Laurent Hurtubise says that golf became a way for him to fit in during his upbringing. He tested hockey and baseball, but stuck to golf as an 11-year-old.

- Sport was a way for me to prove that, despite my disability, I could perform just as well as normal people ... as they are called, says the acclaimed amateur golfer to Desert Sun.
