Current IFK Kristianstad coach Vranjes took over shortly before the championship as the national team for Slovenia and after a 29-24 victory against Portugal in the intermediate round in Malmö arena, the Slovenes still remain in the fight for a semi-final place.

In order for the starting situation to be really good before Wednesday's final round, Vranjes tonight may hope for a helping hand from Sweden as Hungary won the mutual meeting with Slovenia.

"They probably have to step up a bit there"

-I think Sweden should concentrate on themselves. They need it both for their own part and for the future. If that helps us then it is great. But they probably have to step up a bit there, says Vranjes to Aftonbladet.

Norway - who scored 31-28 against Iceland (two points) - tops the group by eight points, and can be ready for the semi-finals if Hungary (four points) does not win tonight's meeting with Sweden (zero). Slovenia is group two on six points.

The final round consists of Slovenia-Norway, Portugal-Hungary and Iceland-Sweden.

The semi-finals will be decided in the Tele2 arena on Friday.
