After 15 months of absence, Conor McGregor made a comeback by winning a knockout after just 40 seconds against American record man Donald "Cowboy" Cerrone.

His fans don't have to wait as long for the next cheat.

The Irishman has promised to go three or four matches in 2020 in an attempt to become UFC champion again, and the next sweep can happen as soon as March or April.

The question is who will be his next opponent. UFC President Dana White wants to see a return meeting against the lightweight champion, Khabib Nurmagomedov. But the Russian has his next match, against Tony Ferguson, booked until April 18 and after that the holy fast awaits the Ramadan.

"Why else lose weight?"

Coach John Kavanagh sees a meeting with American Justin Gaethje "within a couple of weeks" from Nurmagomedov's title match.

- Then Conor is on the same timeline to meet the winner in that match a couple of months after that, he tells ESPN.

Kavanagh also wants McGregor - who was previously UFC champion in both featherweight (65.7 kilos) and lightweight (70.3) - to continue to compete in welterweight (77.1 kilos) unless a master belt is at stake.

- Why else would he lose weight? But when the big title match comes he can lose the last seven kilos.

Other possible opponents for McGregor are, for example, a third match against rival Nate Diaz, a title match against welterweight champion Kamaru Usman, or a meeting with crowd favorite Jorge Masvidal who defeated Diaz in November.
