- Australia: Teen Coco Gauff loads Venus Williams and favorites outperform the first round
Spaniard Roberto Bautista (9) became the first Spaniard to enter the second round of the Australian Open after comfortably beating compatriot Feliciano López 6-2, 6-2 and 7-5.
The Spaniard, who reached the quarterfinals in 2019, completed his 300th official hard court game , which served to extend to nine the streak of consecutive games won since the Croatian Nikola Mektic was imposed in the recent Davis Cup held in Madrid.
The match started on Monday morning but after completion of the first set was interrupted by heavy rains that continued into the night and forced them to postpone the crash Tuesday.
In the event that the Spaniard Pablo Andújar imposes himself on the American Michael Mmoh, Bautista will again face a compatriot in the second round.
