The Swedish net in badminton, currently ranked 58th in the world and 24th in the Olympic qualifying ranking (the first 34 will take an Olympic place), reached the final in this year's largest international competition on Swedish soil: Swedish Open in Uppsala.

But the final, played against Danish Victor Svendsen, did not go as he had hoped. At position 8-18 in the first set, he was forced to break due to an infected, wounded and bruised right foot.

- Extremely sad, but it hurt just too badly, he says in a press release.

- I had been looking forward to playing in front of this large audience, and I couldn't. But I hope everyone understands that I did everything I could. It also feels so snowy because it has really been good days here in Uppsala. I'm basically very happy with my game.

How long he will be gone is so far unclear.

"It looks very hopeful for Felix when it comes to Olympic games, and I both hope and think that Felix will be back on the track soon," said union captain Andrew Smith.
