It was almost a year ago that Khaddi Sagnia injured the cruciate ligament in his left knee during a stern competition in the Nordenkampen. Today she was back in the long jump pit during competitions in Växjö.

And it was a nervous 25-year-old who stepped out on the track.

- I was very nervous. My legs trembled. But it was in the back of my head: “I know what I am capable of, I know what I have done in training, I know what we have worked on and what I have responded very well to. So now it's just breathing, pulling down all expectations and really trying to do it and just being calm and trying to do as usual and take it as a workout, ”she tells SVT Sport.

Strong series

That tactic worked. Sagnia stood for a strong series with 6.48 in the second jump, followed by 6.59 and finally 6.67 before the competition ended. Just 6.67 had reached the sixth best results indoors in the world last season.

- I'm happy about that. I am very happy, there are many technical details that we have worked on that have proven to work very well. So now it's really just to bring in these good feelings and the little details that didn't work today and train on it and go out and compete - because that's really the competition habit I need now, she says.

Near the World Cup qualifying limit

In addition, Sagnia's 6.67 is the world's best 21 centimeters. It is early in the year, but of course something that Sagnia is happy about.

- I'm happy about it as long as it lasts. Then I hope I have it even when everyone has jumped, she says with a laugh.

"Incredible feeling"

The results are also just eight centimeters from the qualifying limit for the indoor World Championships, which will take place later this spring, and only 15 centimeters from the 6.82 required to reach the Tokyo Olympics.

In other words, an impressive comeback by the Gothenburg lady, who is really happy to be back in the competition.

- Really, really! Every hope I get to do is such an incredible feeling. It's been almost a year since I jumped, and I've been yearning. You still want to compete when you exercise. You don't just want to train, train, train. You still want to show yourself and everyone else what you have been training for, so it is a wonderful feeling, ”she says.

Two of the competition became last year's great Swedish athletics sensation Tilde Johansson. She jumped 6.25.
