Katsuto Ito, director of Kinki University Sumo Club, who died as a former amateur Yokozuna at Asanoyama, who is challenging Shinsekiwaki in the first place of grand sumo wrestling at Shinsekiwaki, has passed away. I was 55 years old.

Coach Ito was born in Aomori Prefecture, and went to Kinki University from Goshogawara Commercial. In 1991, he won the All-Japan Sumo Championship and became the 40th Amateur Yokozuna.

After that, he took over the role of director of the sumo wrestling club at his alma mater, not only to find promising players from all over the country, but also to flourish his talents with guidance that values ​​the individuality of each person.

Among the active wrestlers, he won 11 places in the previous place, and now the place has raised Asanoyama, who is challenging in Shinsekiwaki, as well as the treasure Fuji and the Tokukatsu Ryu of the flat curtain.

According to officials, after watching the efforts on the sixth day of the first sumo wrestling place held at the Kokugikan in Ryogoku, Tokyo on the 17th, Manager Ito had a dinner with an acquaintance and returned to his accommodation in Tokyo. The condition changed suddenly and he died in the hospital where he was transported.
