The Swedish handball star was only selected in the gross squad for the European Championship due to his shoulder injury, so a little hope of games was still ahead of the championship.
But that is definitely not the case.
"Sad news: Mattias Zachrisson, who was taken out of the gross squad for the European Championships, has suffered a setback in his rehabilitation and is forced into a new shoulder operation in two weeks," the handball national team writes in social media.
It was in mid-August that Zachrisson, everyday in Füchse Berlin in the Bundesliga, sustained the injury and underwent an initial operation of the shoulder.
