Sweden took the European gold for the second time by defeating Spain in the final by 25-23. A final that was more like a thriller in which a Swedish show in the first half turned into a second drama. For the performance, the national team received the Bragdguldet.

Sweden met Denmark in a raffling semi-final where the young team played masterfully and managed to reach the final by a goal margin. It was the first time since the gold in 2002 that Sweden was in the final. Once there, however, it stopped Spain that won its first European gold after defeating Sweden 29-23.
