The Iranian authorities prevented the Jordanian player Anas Bani Yassin, who is a professional in the Khuzestan Steel Club, from leaving its lands to the Kingdom.

The father of Anas, Walid Bani Yassin, attributed this to the reason that his son carried a sum of money in excess of the legally permissible limit, according to what the Jordanian (government) TV station reported on his official website.

"My son is good at the moment and is currently in a hotel and there is no problem with the club (which he is a professional in) and his relationship is good with them," Bani Yassin said.

"He was carrying more money that he wanted to bring with him to Jordan," he said, noting that his son might delay his return to Jordan and might end his contract with Khuzestan Steel Club.

The statement of the player's father, Anas, came after a tweet by the head of the Jordan Football Association, Prince Ali bin Al Hussein, in which he stated that the Iranian club had not paid Bani Yassin his financial dues.

For its part, the Iranian Fars News Agency reported that the Iranian authorities released the Jordanian player yesterday, Monday, after they arrested him at Imam Khomeini International Airport in Tehran on Sunday, against the background of carrying a quantity of foreign currency that exceeds the legally authorized.

It is not permissible for the traveler, according to Iranian law, to carry more than 10 thousand dollars when leaving the country, while Anas was in possession of 47.5 thousand dollars, according to the Iranian agency.

Bani Yasin is the first Jordanian player to professionalize in the Iranian league.
