"I keep breathing." Francesca Schiavone, the former Italian tennis player who was a champion of Roland Garros in 2010, announced Friday that she "defeated" a cancer, in an emotional video message posted on her Instagram account.

"After seven or eight months of silence ... I would like to share what happened to me. I was diagnosed with cancer. I underwent chemotherapy, the battle was hard and I am still breathing. I have won this fight. Now, I am back, "revealed Schiavone, who appeared with very short hair. The Milanese, 39, did not specify what type of cancer she suffered.

Schiavone, the first Italian tennis player to conquer a Major , retired after the 2018 U.S. Open. In 2011, he rose to fourth place in the world ranking, a few months after his unexpected victory at Roland Garros. Italaine was at least a quarterfinalist in each of the four Grand Slam tournaments. During his career he won eight titles, in addition to three Federation Cup with Italy (2006, 2009, 2010).
