The fact that Mexican Andy Ruiz Jr knocked the then undefeated big star Anthony Joshua in June is counted as one of boxing history's biggest bumps.

Last Saturday, the British won back their four champion belts after a superior points victory in Saudi Arabia - and now he tells more about what actually happened this summer.

The speculation and rumors surrounding Joshua's recharge for the first game have been many. Among other things, information circulates that he was knocked out a few weeks before the match, and that he had a panic attack in the dressing room hours before.

Forced to surgery

- I had health problems that I was drawn to for a long period. I didn't know what was wrong with me. I felt so tired and empty of energy that I thought it had to do with the training, he tells AP and continues:

- I sat in the locker room before the game (in New York) and stuffed my head in a bucket of ice. I thought "why am I so tired"?

The world champion also says that he was forced into a minor operation during the training camp prior to the weekend's return meeting, but does not want to give any further details.

Back to spring

According to information in the British and US press, Joshua is likely to be back in the ring again in April or May, and the Premier League team Tottenham's new arena in London is rumored to be the venue.

To maintain his master belts, he has two compulsory title defenses to deal with: Bulgaria's Kubrat Pulev (IBF) and Ukraine's Oleksandr Usyk (WBO).

Former Olympic gold medalist Anthony Joshua has won 23 of his 24 professional matches, including 21 on knockout.
