MADRID (Reuters) - Real Madrid striker Eden Hazard has suffered a fracture in his right foot, confirming his absence from the Clasico against Barcelona on December 18.

The club said in a statement on their official website on Thursday: "After tests carried out by Eden Hazard by the medical staff of Real Madrid, the player was diagnosed with a fracture in his right foot (an incomplete external fracture), and is awaiting developments."

For his part, said "Marca" Spanish, that "with this diagnosis, confirmed the absence of the Belgian to face the traditional rivals Barcelona in Clasico, because this type of injury needs between 4 and 6 weeks for treatment."

The newspaper added: "Hazard appeared leaning on the crutch, Wednesday, during a dinner for Real Madrid, following the injury suffered."

Hazard was injured in the Champions League clash with Paris St Germain and was forced to replace Zinedine Zidane.
