Dillon Dube gave the Alberta team the lead in the first period. Then it was only five minutes left before Ottawa acknowledged. But just a minute later, Lindholm beat 2-1, and then nailed the match again with their 14th goal of the season in the empty cage in the last minute.

The result got a little extra gold edge because it was victory number 1,000 for the team at home in the NHL.

Peters resigned last Friday

The club has had a stormy week, after launching an investigation into previous racism from coach Bill Peter's side in Rockford against former SHL player Akim Alihu.

After a few days, Peter apologized, and then resigned last Friday. Geoff Ward has joined as a temporary coach.

- It's been a little difficult for a while. First we were down in a real hockey purely hockey-wise and then all that happened, says Elias Lindholm to Aftonbladet, and continues:

- But we have a good group here, we have talked together and decided to concentrate on what we can influence and that is what happens on the ice. Just tonight we did not do any canon match directly but we win and that is the important thing.

Lindholm is now listed for 14 goals scored for the season, three more than Elias Pettersson, who is the second best Swedish goal scorer this season.

Philadelphia fourth straight

Oskar Lindblom set his eleventh goal of the season when Philadelphia defeated Montreal by 3-4. It was the fourth win in a row for Philadelphia, which scored in 14 of 16 games in November.

William Nylander is also in double digits, after setting his tenth goal of the season when his Toronto beat Buffalo by 2-1. Andreas Johnsson got an assist for John Tavare's decisive goal.

Hattrick by Ovetjkin

Anton Stralman set his first two goals for Florida when Nashville were down 3-0.

Saturday's meeting between the NHL table's best and worst teams ended as expected - a win for Washington against Detroit, 5-2. Alexander Ovetjkin made the hat trick for the capital team.

The goal is that Ovetjkin has now scored 20 goals in 28 matches. That means he now has 15 straight seasons with at least 20 goals scored. In doing so, he joins an exclusive crowd of players who have managed it. The only ones who have done it before are Marcel Dionne, Mike Gartner, Jaromir Jagr and Mats Sundin, writes NBC.
