At the microphone of Europe 1, Didier Deschamps, the coach of the French Football Team, recognizes that the draw for the final phase of the Euro 2020 did not spoil him. "It's a difficult group, we know what to expect," he said, while the Blues face Germany and Portugal in Group F.

INTERVIEW

Hard to find a draw as crazy for a group of a big international competition. At the end of the draw for the Euro 2020 football on Saturday, chance decided to gather in Group F, France, Germany, Portugal and a country qualified by the dams in March, potentially the Iceland, Hungary or Bulgaria. The Blues, world champions 2018, the 2016 European champion Selecção and the Mannschaft, the most beautiful list of European football, form the death group of this European championship. "A difficult group", recognizes Didier Deschamps, at the microphone of Europe 1.

"The peculiarities of the draw"

The Blues will notably find the last two teams to beat them during a major European competition. Portugal had broken French dreams in the final of Euro 2016, two years after Germany eliminated France in the quarter-finals of the 2014 World Cup. "We must not remember that bad memories", tempers all the same the coach of the Team of France with a bit of bad faith. "We still eliminated them in 2016," he recalls, in the semifinals of the European championship. "These are the peculiarities of this draw, we suffer anyway. We end up with two qualified teams at the top of their qualifying pool, and the last winner of the League of Nations, it's like that."

The epic of the Blues at Euro 2020 will start June 16 in Munich against Germany who will have the advantage of playing at home. "We will need the support of our supporters, but it will take a few small advantages to get tickets," slides in a smile the coach of the Blues. "There will be a lot of stake, excitement," said Didier Deschamps, who confirmed on Europe 1 that Clairefontaine would be the base camp of the Team of France. "We will do a lot of our preparation there, because we have trips rather short," says Didier Deschamps. We do not know however the two nations that will face the Blues in March in friendly. "Between the barriers and the teams that we have no right to face, there will not be much available, blows the former French captain, who will tackle this task with the President of the Federation, Noël le Graët.
