Russia's Andrej Rublev defeated Vasek Pospisil in the first singles match, sets 6–4, 6–4. Canada's Denis Shapovalov then tied for 1-1 after winning against Karen Chatjanov, 6-4, 4-6, 6-4.
In the decisive double, Pospisil / Shapovalov then won against Rublev / Chatjanov by 6-3, 3-6, 7-6 (7-5).
Ahead of this year, the Davis Cup schedule was transformed into a main tournament for a week. In Sunday's final, either the home team Spain or the UK are waiting for semi-final meetings later today.
Canada played in the Davis Cup for the first time 106 years ago, 1913.
