It was a month ago that Mullsjö AIS went out on different paths with head coach Ulf Hallstensson. The club communicated that the cooperation between the leadership team and the sports group "did not work completely satisfactorily, as the communication was lacking".

In the same vein, assistant coach David Gillek was asked to take over the main responsibility. But both he and assistant Lisa Eskils chose to also leave Mullsjö AIS. Instead, David Gillek signed on as player for Växjö Vipers and made his debut against Sirius.

"Didn't turn out the way I intended"

- That I would not play was an easy decision to make. I already made that decision when I signed up for Växjö. It does not feel right to myself, the supporters, the people around Mullsjö and especially to the team I stood and coached just a few weeks ago, says Gillek when SVT Sport visits him in the villa which is a stone's throw from Nyhemshallen.

- It was not as I had imagined unfortunately. Ulf left and the way everything went, I refused. The conditions were not the same as I entered the season with. I would prefer to be in Mullsjö, but unfortunately it is not possible.

The 36-year-old chose not to attend the match or watch it from the TV couch.

- I can't look at Mullsjö because then I am reminded of what has happened. There may be some hockey match instead.

Do not want to go into details

Both Gillek and Mullsjö AIS have been aware of the exact reason why it broke out between the leadership team and the club. Gillek does not want to go into details - but confirms that he is disappointed.

- Yes, there are of course two parties, but of course I am disappointed. Ulf is the best coach and he was the key to gold for Mullsjö AIS. I think it's really sad that Ulf, Lisa and I couldn't continue working together. I am convinced that we had won gold within three years. It's tough, but I feel I've done the right thing. My goal is to be a coach for many, many years to come and then I hope to stand there and lead Mullsjö someday. That's what you should aim for.

The match is ongoing.
