Madrid - Lionel Messi led Barcelona to regain the top spot in the Primera Liga after beating Celta Vigo 4-1 on Saturday in the 13th round of the competition.

The Royal temporarily snatched the lead earlier in the evening by beating Ibar 4-0.

Messi and played the role of the championship in the game today by scoring three goals, one goal from a penalty (23) and two goals from two free strikes (45 and 48).

Lucas Olaza scored the only goal for Celta three minutes before the end of the first half, while substitute Sergio Busquets scored the fourth goal for Barcelona (85).

The win lifted Barcelona to 25 points in the lead on goal difference just from runners-up Real Madrid. Celta had nine points to stay third from bottom.
