Liverpool will line up in the League Cup in Birmingham against Aston Villa on December 17 and have promised the tournament that they will line up with a team that is in par with what has participated in the previous rounds, ie a team with many reserves.
The strongest Liverpool team will play the semi-finals of the Club World Cup in Qatar the following day, December 18.
"The club wants to take this opportunity to emphasize that while this is not an ideal scenario, it is a result we came up with for the tournament's best together with the other clubs and what was most appropriate for ourselves," writes Liverpool.
The club also writes that other options were discussed but that this solution was ultimately the best. This is because there was no other solution given Liverpool's tight schedule.
