At the end of May, the women's union captain Peter Sartz was fired after allegations of harassment and a sexist jargon. Instead, at short notice, John Wall came on as acting ladies' union captain.

It is now clear that a temporary solution will become more permanent. Wall, who would initially remain in the role until SOC at home this October, will have extended confidence until after the Summer 2020 Olympics.

- He has come in well and has worked well with the girls. So it feels right that he continues, says the association's sports manager Mikael Andersson to SVT Sport.

Aim set at the 2020 Olympics

The employment is half-time. John Wall has a background as a coach at the national gymnasium in Köping and as coach / sports manager for the Nackaklubben Boo KFUM.

- It has been great fun so far but at the same time many fast pucks. What I look forward to now is that I will have more time to work with the players and be on the journey to take a team to the Olympics. It's a good group of girls with a mix of experienced and young players who train hard to develop and get better, says John Wall in a press release.

It has already become clear that Jörgen Persson, who has also been a "substitute" for the past six months, will be the new assistant team captain for the men's national team.
