With five minutes left, Nashville was down by 4-5. Then Nick Bonino acknowledged and 28 seconds later Calle Järnkrok managed to get out of the Washington defense and pass Mattias Ekholm, who dreamed with a shot from the blue line. Ekholm's shot went into goal and Nashville went up the lead for the first time, as the team kept playing time out. The game ended 6-5 to Nashville and Ekholm was named the best player of the match.

- We chased all night and the guys never stopped playing. Although we lagged behind and chased most of the game, I think we played really well. We pushed on from start to finish and eventually it paid off, says Nashville coach Peter Laviolette.

Järnkrok was also noted for an assist for one of Ryan Johansen's two goals.

- I've been playing a bit with "Jarny" over the years and his understanding of the game is quite special. He is a very valuable player for our team and he is very versatile, he made a big impression in the match, Johansen said after the match.
