• Chronicle.Marc Márquez agiganta his legend: sixth MotoGP title in seven years
  • Summary: The year Marc Márquez fled the mess

Gather the photos of the six Marc Márquez celebrations in MotoGP, cover the number of World Cups that appear on the commemorative shirts and mix all the images: they will then have a good time ordering them again, discovering what belongs to the 2013 party in Cheste and which one to the party in Burinam. It is a really complicated challenge. Because practically everything remains the same. Unlike the two champions of the previous category, Giacomo Agostini and Valentino Rossi , Márquez has not wanted to change anything since he began to win and, moreover, he has made an effort to make that happen both inside and outside the track.

"Marc has become a man at this time, he is no longer so innocent, he is more mature, like everyone else, but his attitude is the same. He is passionate about this, of working and doing it all together," says Santi Hernández , which is the great pillar of its regularity in the circuits: the team. Moto2 already promoted with Hernández and Carlos Liñán and as soon as he won his first MotoGP title he recovered as mechanics Jordi Castellà, Javi Ortiz and Gerold Bucher to never move his circle again. While other pilots travel alone or with their partners, Márquez always travels with them, eat with them, go on excursions with them and have fun with them. They only separate for the pilot's many promotional commitments and, of course, to sleep. At night, especially in Europe, Marc is held in the modest caravan that his father Julià drives and that parks at the end of the paddocks next to the most pompous vehicles that have pilots like Maverick Viñales. With a contract until 2021 with Honda, with whom he has found the perfect tune after a 2015 and a 2016 discussion, it does not seem that he will change the group at the next market opening, this same winter, and could even do as Mick Doohan and complete his entire career in the same brand.

History has shown that it is the best way to secure titles. It may not be the most exciting way, but it is certainly the winner and, if something has been demonstrated by Marquez, it is his need to win. The precedents are scary. Agostini saw the sunset when he was threatened by Phil Read in MV Augusta and left for Yamaha in 1974 and Rossi stopped holding titles as soon as he left Yamaha to go to Ducati in 2011. Both also lived off-track episodes that destabilized their respective winning streaks and Márquez has already dodged the conatos of that he has lived. Agostini had to endure the paparazis for his active love life and Rossi, among other things, moved to London and ended up immersed in a very expensive tax fraud.

Both problems seem far from being a threat to Márquez. Although this year he has appeared in the pink press for his relationship with Lucía Rivera , daughter of Cayetano Rivera and Blanca Romero, neither of them intends to become a public couple and the rest of his life is handled in the tranquility of Cervera . After the failure of his march to Andorra in 2014, Márquez has accepted Spanish taxation and a large house has been built in his village so as not to move from there. He has also set up a personal gym on a nearby ship and kept his training bikes there. From his hairdresser -which never gives him a change of look- until his walks with grandfather Ramón and his brother Álex as soon as they return from the races, there are routines that he maintains even since he was a child. Marquez never changes anything. And so his domain is eternal.
