The javelin finals did not offer the same level as the championship finals of recent years. Kim Amb went there as a fourth man, but well there he seemed taken by the seriousness of the moment.

Amb's longest result came in the second round when he threw the spear 80.42 away. With that result he became the last man to throw the last three throws. But neither was there any longer, and Amb had to settle for an eighth place. Eighth place is his best place in a World Cup final. His qualification had reached fourth place.

Nor did the world-viewer, Magnus Kirt, have a good day. The Estonian did not perform at his normal level and in his last throw the shoulder jumped out of his way for him. However, Kirt seemed to take the situation calmly and was carried off the track on stretcher.

Won the contest made Anderson Peters of Grenada at 86.89.
