• Accident: A delivery man dies after crashing his motorcycle with a tourist in Huelva
  • Barcelona: controversy over the death of a Glovo worker

Almost half (45%) of the workers who lose their lives every year in an accident, do so as a result of a traffic accident, although these types of accidents only account for 13.4% of all occupational accidents. This was evidenced yesterday by the I Observatory of Occupational Road Accident that Asepeyo and the CNAE Foundation have launched to address this serious problem.

Beyond mortality, these types of accidents also have other important consequences. For example, the average duration of the leave is 7.4 days higher (up to 37 days) and represented 20% of the total amount of payments Asepeyo made in 2018 to address cases of permanent disability (partial, total or absolute)

By age, the most affected section is that of young people between 16 and 29 years old (35% of the total). Monday is the day that records more accidents in itinere (going to or coming to work), while Friday is when most of those that occur during the workday are concentrated. The hospitality industry is the sector with the highest incidence rate and the lowest, that of education.

The regions most affected by this fact are the Balearic Islands, Andalusia, Catalonia and Madrid. The least, La Rioja, Extremadura and Castilla y León.

In spite of this, 40% of Spanish companies do not have a mobility plan, and less than half of them do job training, which is also very small and limited. "They need to invest in this section, a large outlay is not required and is one of the most effective actions," said José Miguel Baez, president of the CNAE Foundation.
