It was up and down the SHL world before the meeting in the third ice hockey round between Färjestad and Växjö. The two tipped top teams were joined by the reigning champion Frölunda as zero points in the bottom of the table.

After 2-4 in Löfbergs arena, the meager distribution of points continues to plague Växjö.

Färjestad fell in the home premiere against Örebro in a seaworthy goal party, 4-6, and had to return home from Skellefteå with another loss, 1-3.

Växjö started on the away side against Luleå and, just as in last season's quarterfinals, looked defeated, 1-3. In the first home game, Växjö stopped scoring after a wild first period and Djurgården could go from victory to 5-3.

Tough home team

At least Färjestad seemed clearly affected by the poor start when it was time for the third match of the season, the second on home turf for the Karlstad team.

The lack of confidence was evident. It was passive, tame and doubtful. The passes rarely found the right address and at times it seemed impossible for Färjestad to find out from their own zone.

In addition, it is difficult to succeed from the deportation booth.

The two back acquisitions Vojtech Mozik and Linus Arnesson each took a two-minute penalty in the first period and Växjö took advantage of both positions in games five against four.

Växjö was the better team even in the second period but still invited Färjestad in the match.

Again, the deportations played a crucial role. When Martin Lundberg committed a jersey draw, Johan Ryno got the position which meant 1-2. Then the away team kept clean during Peter Andersson's two minutes, but it was only five seconds before Ville Leskinen in goal-keeper manner scored 2-2 from a poor angle.

"Green" victory shooter

The third period was a double hunt for the fall's first victory goal, a dream situation for potential match heroes.

This evening, the three-point shooter was dressed in green.

Linus Arnesson showed that it is better to be on the ice than to the side of it when he mowed directly after drawing. Per Åslund then diluted the victory figures to 4-2 for a relieved Ferry City.
