The Swedish cross country team took 37 pallet seats in the World Cup last season and a collective bonus of SEK 100,000 was thus paid out, as the goal of 30 pallet seats was met.

Maja Dahlqvist was one of the contributors to the bonus with seven pallet seats, but she was not allowed to partake of the cake. The reason was that she belonged to the B national team.

The Swede was eventually paid for his success when a sponsor went in and paid SEK 20,000 per pallet seat, but the criticism of the bonus system was great.

"They have wanted change"

Therefore, the union is now abandoning the collective bonus for the coming season, and the riders who take a pallet place are individually rewarded regardless of which national team they belong to, Expressen writes.

- Yes it is true. I've had conversations with Teodor Peterson and Evelina Settlin who are field representatives, but have also talked to the rest of the team. They have wanted to make these changes, says Ola Strömberg, the union director, to the newspaper.

Tedor Peterson welcomes the change.

- The joint bonus has caused some dissatisfaction and we have wanted to change it now. But it was not just about Maja Dahlqvist, but more about the knowledge of the riders outside the A-national team that they would not get any bonus if they managed to take a pallet seat, he tells Expressen.

- We were many in the A-national team, too, who thought it was unfair. And then it is better to have an arrangement where this situation does not arise.
