Danish embarrassment in Georgia

The position of the Danish national team in the selection for Euro 2020 sharply shook. One of the owners of the upcoming championship for the third time in five matches lost points. But if earlier they tied with the favorites of the qualification group of Ireland and Switzerland, now they were not able to beat the rather modest team of Georgia.

The match in Tbilisi ended in a goalless draw. More recently, the Danes beat the Georgians with a score of 5: 1, but despite the abundance of moments in the return game, not a single ball flew into the goal of George Loria, who in the past represented “Wings of the Soviets” and “Anji”. Casper Schmeichel left the goal dry, but he had much less work - the hosts delivered only one shot on target.

To the Danes, such a waste of scoring chances can loudly backfire. So far, they still hold on the second line and claim to participate in the final stage of the Euro. But one point behind them is the Swiss, who spent one match less. In their last match, they beat Gibraltar with a score of 4: 0 and will now be even more tuned to the successful completion of the qualification.

Liechtenstein draw with 2004 champions

If the Danes can still improve their situation, then the Greeks' dreams of returning to the European Championships will most likely not come true. After the first round, they were able to get ahead only of modest Liechtenstein, over which they won a unique victory. But the Greek national team could not win the second leg on its territory, having unfortunately lost two points five minutes before the final whistle.

The 2004 European champions logically dominated the field and opened the scoring in the 33rd minute thanks to a goal by Georgios Masuras. But at the end of the meeting, the home team allowed Denis Salanovich from the Swiss “Tuna” to complete, perhaps, the main race in his life. He easily ran off half the field from two defenders and scored a return goal in the 85th minute.

For the first time in history, the Liechtenstein team was able to score points in a match with a team that had once won the European Championship. Prior to this, her best result was a draw with Portugal at the beginning of the 21st century. For Greece, this lost victory means that it certainly will not take first place in the group. Until the second, she lacks seven points, which must somehow be played for the four remaining matches.

The best match of Mkhitaryan in the national team

Another match in group J can also claim the status of sensation. At least because of how he influenced the standings of the teams. The Armenian team was able to snatch third place in a full-time dispute among the more experienced Bosnia and Herzegovina, and even pleased the fans with an abundance of goals.

Heinrich Mkhitaryan became responsible for them. The rented Roma midfielder scored for the team for the last time just in the previous lost match with the Bosnians. This time Mkhitaryan brought the team four goals at once. He designed two personally, beating opponents in someone else's penalty area. Then, with his cutting serve, Hovhannes Hambartsumyan scored. Finally, already at a compensated time, Mkhitaryan struck along the goal, and the ball got tangled at the feet of Stipe Lonchar, after which he rolled into the goal. In the list of the top scorers of the Armenian national team, the midfielder “Roma” is already more than twice ahead of Yura Movsisyan.

The Bosnians were able to answer with two goals, one of which was created by teammate Mkhitaryan Edin Dzeko. But even for a draw this was not enough. The Armenian team, previously inferior to the Balkans in the standings, advanced two points ahead and took third place. So far, the prospects for playing in the summer at the European Championships among Armenians are still vague, but even such a result seemed previously unattainable for them.

Penalty Shootout Italy

The only game that did not bring a surprise to Group J took place in Tampere. The Finns remained in this city after defeating Greece and hosted the Italian team. The home team got a chance in full-time confrontation to remove the wards of Roberto Mancini from first place, for which they needed to win with a difference of at least two goals.

But the higher class of Italians affected. In the first half, they hit the Suomi players with all their might. The defense did not suffer from the guests, although already in the eighth minute Alessandro Florenzi had to leave instead of Emerson. However, no matter how the guests tormented the home team, the score did not change in the first half. Only in the 59th minute, Ciro Immobile managed to close the canopy with his head, and not without the help of the bar.

The Italians alone turned out to be not enough to win. Stefano Sensi after losing the ball knocked down the main star of the Finnish national team Teemu Pukki, and he received the right to a penalty. The Norwich player calmly hit the gate of Gianluigi Donarumma, who had previously been punished for delaying the time before the strike. Pukki scored in the fourth consecutive match for the national team.

The Italians had to again storm the gates of others, and they also got the right to a penalty, only for a hand game. Accurate blow Jorginho brought guests the sixth victory out of six possible. Wards Mancini enough to score four points in the next four matches to get to Euro 2020.

Alcacer Series

Six out of six victories were also won by the Spaniards. After an away match with Romania, they rested in a home game with the Faroe Islands. Roberto Moreno conducted extensive experiments with the roster, but at the same time released several well-deserved players, including defender Sergio Ramos, who repeated the record of Iker Casillas for matches played.

First, Rodrigo marked with a double. Partners took him to an empty net in the 13th minute, and after a break, he himself showed how he can beat opponents in someone else's penalty area. After this, Paco Alcácer entered the field, who is doing things incredible for football this season. He always scored in all matches for the national team and Dortmund Borussia this season. The Spaniard's goal series has stretched for seven matches. Although Alcácer played less than half an hour with the Faroes, he also managed to score two goals, all of which were recorded after the 89th minute.

The Spaniards confidently lead Group F, ahead of Sweden by seven points and Romania by eight. With each of the closest competitors, the Pyrenees will still meet once.
