She is only 23 years old yet it feels like she has been for a long time. When Sweden won the U19-European Championship 2015 Stina Blackstenius won the shooter league in the championship. In the U20 World Cup the following year, Sweden left the group - but that did not prevent Blackstenius from winning the shooter league there as well.

There are merits embedded in hopes of boundless potential. Nevertheless, the definitive break on the world stage has had to wait. A bit into the summer World Cup, there were still question marks about Stina Blackstenius, after she went speechless through the group play.

"For my part, I might have had a slightly tougher start to the championship," she says.

Twelve goals without a goal and a pale first half against Canada in the eighth. Then she struck. The striker sent Sweden to the quarter with the only goal of the match. She followed it up with a new goal in the 2-1 victory against Germany in the quarter.

Own explanation: "Some resistors are better than others"

It was a kind of final confirmation that she could do all that stuff that the potential for many years gossiped about.

- Throughout the entire championship, we met a lot of opponents who worked in different ways. Of course, some resistors fit better than others for me, she explains and continues:

- I like to meet teams where I can work over large areas and may well have a development in playing against teams that work a little lower where the areas are not as big. But it still felt like I was growing into the tournament and gaining self-confidence. It was important to me.

Latvia - a challenge in its own way for Blackstenius

Provided she plays in the European Championship qualifier against Latvia, she gets a chance to practice what she herself lacks - finding ways against teams returning home.

- It is very possible that we will be able to play against a team that plays a little lower defense games so it will be important for us to get them as much as possible in motion and move a lot of ball, she says and continues:

- It will be a challenge to face a little lower defense game, a good test for us.
