“With age, I am becoming more gradual”: how the Russian team and journalists congratulated Stanislav Cherchesov on his birthday

Stanislav Cherchesov celebrated his birthday, as befits the head coach of the first football team in the country, at a work post. For the second year already, the specialist’s personal holiday coincides with the start of training camps.

The working day of the birthday in Novogorsk began in the early morning. Cherchesov held several conversations with the players, after which, with the sound of camera shutters, he first appeared on the base training field.

Journalists congratulated Cherchesov, and then asked if he managed to get a gift from the team.

However, of course, the team could not ignore their helmsman. Having gathered in a circle before the start of the training, the players handed Cherchesov a T-shirt with a game number corresponding to his age.

It is worth noting that last year the Russian team approached the coach’s birthday more creatively. On the day of Cherchesov’s 55th birthday, all the players appeared on the field with a mustache on them, but this time the team decided not to repeat. This was reported to reporters by the defender of the Moscow Dynamo Roman Neustedter.

“This must be asked from Dziuba. Most often, he is the author of such actions with us. Then it turned out fun, but once enough. Today we chose this option. In Germany, by the way, coaches are not allowed to give presents. The team just gathers in a circle and says kind words. And in general, we are not going to celebrate here, but to work. Our victories will be the best gift for a mentor, ”said Neustedter.

“So much I will not eat”

However, the celebrations in Novogorsk did not end there. The coach passed the baton of congratulations to the journalists who have been working with the team since the first day, when Cherchesov was appointed to the RFU.

The idea to arrange a surprise for the head coach and continue the good action of mutual congratulations came to reporters spontaneously. The initiator was the Sport Express columnist Dmitry Zelenov, and besides him, colleagues from RIA Novosti, Izvestia, Championship and Sport 24 supported the idea.

The choice was stopped on the cake in the form of a soccer ball. Discussion of a short and capacious message to a specialist did not take much time. Given the specifics of the work, it was decided to dwell on the phrase “There are no questions, coach!”, Thereby emphasizing his attitude to communicating with him.

“I wanted to focus on things that are clear to him and us. Over the years, many catchphrases have already appeared. For example, he often asks us not to use the definitions of “problems” for the team, replacing them with “questions”, so he decided to write that there are no questions for today, we just came to congratulate him, ”an RT correspondent explained.

But still, I could not do without questions regarding the work. Cherchesov received his small gift from journalists only after he told about the latest news from the team.

"Thank. No questions? You can continue to ask me as many as you see fit. Of course, it’s hard at times to restrain myself, but, apparently, with age I become more gradual, ”the coach responded to the present.

In addition, Cherchesov did not disclose the secret which of the congratulations he remembered the most.

“A lot of people called, a lot of congratulations. But I will not single out by the names of the authors, so as not to offend or forget any of them, ”the national team coach said.

Saying goodbye to reporters, the head coach of the team decided to clarify who was the author of the holiday cake.

“No, what did you guys come up with, and the girls cooked all night after the match between Spartak and Zenit,” media representatives jokingly answered.

“I will draw the attention of our single players to this. But I’ll say right away: I won’t eat so much alone, I’ll have to share with the team, ”the coach summed up.

In honor of the mentor’s birthday, the Russian team will hold a training session on Monday in lightweight mode. Instead of the traditional theory, the team will gather for a festive tea party, but the very next day will continue to work in full force.
