Zagitova became the winner of the world championship, having collected 237.50 points for the sum of the short and arbitrary programs. Medvedev took third place with a score of 223.80 points.

Both figure skaters in the past were engaged in the group Eteri Tutberidze, but after the end of the 2017/18 season, Medvedev decided to change the coach and went to Canadian specialist Brian Orser.

According to media reports, which both athletes have repeatedly denied, during the winter games of 2018 in South Korea, a conflict arose between them, which resulted in Medvedeva’s departure from Tutberidze, under whose leadership she became a two-time world champion and Olympic silver medalist.

Earlier, Medvedev said she was proud of her performance at the World Championships in Saitama.
