Michael van van Gerwen regained the lead in the Premier League on Thursday in Nottingham thanks to a victory over Gerwyn Pryce. Earlier in the evening, Raymond van Barneveld went down against Rob Cross, which means that the Hagenaar remains at the bottom.

Van Barneveld lost 7-3 to Cross and that was his third loss in a row. He also didn't manage Peter Wright and Michael Smith in recent weeks and James Wade was too strong in the opening round.

Only Mensur Suljovic (6-6) and Price (6-6) did not lose Van Barneveld this season, so he only has two points after six rounds. Next week he will play in Berlin against the German Max Hopp, who as a so-called 'contender' only plays for money, and then a meeting with Daryl Gurney awaits in Ahoy in Rotterdam.

Average Van Barneveld much lower than that of Cross

The 51-year-old Van Barneveld, who made the news this week because after 25 years he will be divorcing his wife Silvia, quickly caught up 2-0 against Cross. He fought back to 2-2, but then the Englishman took a quick average distance.

Cross, the 2018 world champion, threw an average of 101.21 per three arrows and Van Barneveld stuck at 91.22.
