The Dutch water poles suffered a sensitive defeat in the World League. Arno Havenga's team lost to Hungary after penalty throws (13-14).

The Netherlands did not manage to reward themselves during the penalty series for a nice catch-up race in the fourth period. The Dutch battled back from 6-10 to 10-10.

Sabrina van der Sloot, good for four goals, and Simone van de Kraats were unable to use their penalty. Hungary only missed one penalty.

Orange had little to say during the first three periods (2-4 2-3 2-3). The fourth period was won with 4-0.

The Netherlands is now third in the group, behind Italy and Hungary. Only the group winner and the best number two of two groups will qualify for the final round.
