At the Valmer stadium, Salah played the title and scored the winning goal for the Reds in the 50th minute from a penalty he himself received.
Salah leads the English Premier League with 14 equal goals with Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane and Arsenal striker Pierre Emeric Obamyang.
Liverpool have moved up to 57 points, seven points clear of Manchester City, who meet Wolverhampton on Monday, while Brighton have dropped 26 points to 13th.
West Ham United have a 1-0 victory at home to Portsmouth, Crystal City 2-1, Southampton at Leicester City 2-1, Burnley at Fulham and Cardiff City with Huddersfield Town.
