LONDON (Reuters) - English teams have dominated the quarter-finals of the Champions League after Liverpool became the fourth English team to qualify for the tournament after their precious 3-1 victory at Bayern Munich on Wednesday.

The first leg - played at Anfield last month - ended in a goalless draw, with Liverpool continuing their five-time winning streak, the last of which was in 2005.

Liverpool were the best in most of the time, as they could have scored more goals for the German goalkeeper's lack of success.

Bayern, however, was far from normal, and was clearly affected by the absence of some of its key players, such as Joshua Kimikh, Thomas Muller and Arjen Robben.

Senegalese midfielder Sadio Mani opened the scoring for Liverpool in the 26th minute with a goal of high individual skill, but Bayern drew 1-1 with a friendly shot by Liverpool defender Joel Matib of the 39th minute.

Dutch defender Virgil van Dyck recovered the lead by scoring the second goal for Liverpool in the 69th minute, and Mani boosted the win by scoring the third goal of the Reds and his second personal goal in the 84th minute after turning Mohammed Salah's cross into the net with a fine header.

Liverpool are fourth in the quarter-finals after Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester United and Manchester United, while Bayern became the fourth German team to play in the Bundesliga after Borussia Dortmund and Schalke 04.
