Five successes in the Champions League, 18 in the English league, three in the Uefa Cup: The list of titles of Liverpool FC is long, hardly a club enthuses more fans worldwide than the club of Anfield.

One who has seen all these successes is 103-year-old Bernard Sheridan. Since his first visit to the stadium in 1923, he has followed all the games of the Reds - whether in the stadium or in front of the TV. Coach Jürgen Klopp has obviously been so touched by this loyalty that he invited Sheridan to the stadium shortly before his 104th birthday on January 25th and met him in person in return for his 96 years of support.

With a personal letter Klopp had previously turned to the fan. It said:

Dear Bernard,

I would like to personally congratulate you on my birthday. I hope you enjoy celebrating with your family and friends. Liverpool FC thanks you for your continuous support.

You'll never walk alone.

Letter from Klopp to Sheridan

"I've gone through good and bad times with the club"

Representatives of the club had previously presented the club's personal gifts to the stunned fan in his retirement home. A shirt with the inscription "Bernard 104", a signed Liverpool flag, tickets for the league match against Crystal Palace and a birthday cake.

"I've been a proud Liverpool fan since I was a little boy, I've gone through good and bad times with the club and I'm honored to receive these gifts," Sheridan said. His biggest wish, however, is that "his" team wins against Crystal Palace.

The crew fulfilled their wish to their probably biggest fan. Liverpool won 4: 3 (0-1) in a dramatic game against the London side. In the table, the Reds are currently seven points ahead of Manchester City. But coach Pep Guardiola's team can cut Huddersfield Town on Sunday (2.30pm) with a win.

Liverpool is aiming for the long-awaited first championship since 1990 this year. On May 12, Liverpool will host Wolverhampton Wanderers on the final day of the Premier League. One who does not want to miss this game is Bernard Sheridan.
