Croatian international midfielder Ivan Rakitic suffers from a muscle injury in his right leg and will be unavailable Sunday against England, the Catalan club said Saturday in a statement.

Rakitic was injured on Thursday during Croatia's victory against Spain in the League of Nations (3-2). The medical examinations performed on Saturday showed an "elongation of the semi-membranous muscle of the right leg , " added Barca in his statement.

FC Barcelona does not specify the duration of the unavailability of the player, merely stating that this "will depend on the evolution of the injury" . But according to the Spanish press, the midfielder could be unavailable two to three weeks.

Rakitic, 30, will miss Sunday in Wembley a crucial meeting between Croatia and England, where will be played access to the quarter-finals of the League of Nations.

He is also unlikely to take part in the Spanish league against Atlético de Madrid on 24 November or the UEFA Champions League match against PSV Eindhoven on 28 August.
