Robin Frijns finished second on Saturday at the Formula E race in Marrakesh. In the second match of the season, the Limburger had to accept only the Belgian Jérôme D'Ambrosio.

The 27-year-old Frijns had started eighth on the street circuit but immediately benefited from a crash in the first corner. He moved up to fourth place.

The driver, who also competes in the DTM, moved two more places in the final stages of the race because the two leaders - BMW I Andretti teammates Alexander Sims and António Félix Da Costa - raced against each other.

The safety car then came onto the track, but it disappeared with one more lap. Frijns was constantly at the start of D'Ambrosio, but he could not pass the Belgian anymore.

It is nevertheless the best result ever for Frijns in Formula E. He came out earlier in the season 2015/2016 and 2016/2017 in the race class for electric cars. In that period he managed to become third once.

The Envision Virgin Racing driver started the season in December with a twelfth place in the race in Saudi Arabia. That did not give him any points for the standings.
