The two-time Wimbledon winner Petra Kvitova has reached the final for the first time at the Australian Open of tennis pros. The 28-year-old Czech won 7: 6 (7-2) in Melbourne on Thursday, beating American surprise semi-finalist Danielle Collins 6-0.

Kvitova made the success against the 25-year-old perfect after 1:34 hours. The number 35 in the world had turned off during the tournament, the German top players Julia Görges and Angelique Kerber.

In the final this Saturday Kvitova meets either US Open winner Naomi Osaka from Japan or in a Czech duel on Karolina Pliskova.
