Avoiding some evacuation centers in Kagoshima Avoiding crowds, guiding evacuation centers in the surrounding area 23:26 on September 6

Due to the increasing risk of flooding of the Kawauchi River in Kagoshima Prefecture, many people visited the shelters in the basin.

In some places, the number of people reached the limit and they stopped accepting it, so local government officials and other staff are forced to take difficult measures.

In Satsuma Kawauchi City, which is located in the basin of the Kawauchi River, many people visited the shelters in the morning.

Of these, the city's international exchange center exceeded the capacity of 300 people in two hours from the opening at 9:00 am, and the city staff were busy inviting them to a nearby university, which is an evacuation center.

According to the city, this university has reached capacity, and as of 6 pm, a total of 5 evacuation centers have stopped accepting.

The city has increased the number of shelters to more than 50 and is responding to more than 180, but it is necessary to avoid crowding with the new coronavirus countermeasures, so it is difficult to deal with it.

A woman in her thirties who evacuated said, “I heard that the river might flood, so I evacuated this time. I have a small child, but I hope I can spend it as usual.”

A person in charge of the city said, "This typhoon is evacuated not only because of the wind but also because of the fear of rain. Many people are evacuated. I want to operate it while considering physical condition management of the evacuees."
