Before the typhoon season, TEPCO measures for blackouts hurriedly Last year's large-scale blackout received 15:15 on August 31st

Typhoon No. 15 last September caused a large-scale power outage in Chiba and other cities, and it took more than two weeks to recover, so before the full-fledged typhoon season, TEPCO quickly announced the damage situation. We are urgently taking countermeasures by increasing the number of drones to 300 in order to understand.

In September of last year, Typhoon No. 15 had two towers and about 2,000 electric poles collapsed within TEPCO's jurisdiction, resulting in a power outage of up to approximately 930,000 units in Chiba Prefecture, and it took more than two weeks to recover.

For this reason, TEPCO is rushing to take measures before the full-scale typhoon season.

In Chiba Prefecture, some of the damaged utility poles were repaired as necessary and used as they are, so work is being done to replace them with new utility poles and replace the wires.

In addition, at that time, it was difficult to understand the damage and it took time to give an accurate prospect of recovery, so we will strengthen the use of drones.

We are increasing the number of drones owned by the company from 200 to 300, and are training to confirm damage from the sky.

Akihiro Takimoto, Manager of the TEPCO Power Grid Kisarazu District Electricity Distribution Construction Group, said, "Last year we had unexpected damage and caused many customers an inconvenience. That is, even if a large typhoon comes, we cannot stop turning on electricity. I want to proceed with preparations consciously."
