Kawasaki City, which was inundated by last year's typhoon No. 19 during the flood season, when heavy rainfall increased, held a resident briefing session on the night of the 13th and explained that new measures such as electrification of sluice gates were taken.

Kawasaki City suffered damage from flooding more than 100 hectares due to the inflow of drainage along the Tama River due to the impact of Typhoon No. 19 last October, and inundation.

The city plans to hold a resident briefing session at six locations in the city about the verification result of the response at that time and subsequent measures, and the first briefing session was held in Nakahara Ward on the night of the 13th.

The city's staff said about the response at the time:
▽ The system for collecting and sharing information was inadequate, and
▽ "The water gate was kept open when it was raining" about the drainage channel that flowed back. We reported the verification result that the operation procedure needs to be reviewed.

Then, as a measure based on the verification,
▽ The water gate of the drainage channel which was manual was electrified by the last month,
▽ After installing observation equipment such as a water level gauge to enable remote monitoring and operation
, I explained that I changed the operation procedure to close the lock if backflow was confirmed regardless of the situation.

Kawasaki-shi water and sewage business manager Tomonori Kaneko said, "Citizens are worried about the damage from heavy rains in Kyushu and other places. We will hold briefing sessions in each area and discuss mid- to long-term measures such as the installation of pump stations I also want to consider the direction while listening to the residents' opinions."
