Sanriku Highway slip accidents due to road surface freeze Miyagi Ishinomaki December 4, 13:19

On the morning of the 4th, there were a series of accidents on the Sanriku Expressway in Ishinomaki City, Miyagi Prefecture that seemed to be caused by slipping due to freezing of the road surface, and a total of 17 cars collided with guardrails.

On the upper and lower lines between the Ishinomaki Onagawa Interchange and the Motoyo Toyosato Interchange on the Sanriku Expressway in Ishinomaki City, there were a series of accidents that seemed to be caused by slippage due to freezing on the road from around 4:30 am to 6:30 am on the 4th.

According to the police, all in a single accident, a total of 17 cars collided with guardrails and side walls, and one man in his 60s who was riding a minicar was injured lightly.

The road surface near the scene is in an “ice-burn” state due to the sleet that fell on the night of the 3rd, and the police are investigating the detailed situation of the accident.

Due to the accident, the Sanriku Expressway was closed for about four and a half hours on the site.

In Miyagi Prefecture, the coldest temperature is getting colder at the morning of 4th in Toyo, Ishinomaki City, with a minimum temperature of minus 1.7 degrees. That means that at least 50 have happened.

Police are calling to drive slowly and carefully on roads with frozen roads.
