A survey by the Geospatial Information Authority of Japan revealed the inundation depths around the Chikuma and Abukuma rivers and the Naka river that were flooded by typhoon No. 19. It seems that it was over 4 meters around the Chikuma River, 5 meters over the Abukuma River, and over 7 meters over the Naka River.

The Geographical Survey Institute estimated the range and depth of the flooded Chikuma, Abukuma and Nakagawa rivers by overlaying photographs taken from above and altitude data.

Around Chikuma River up to 4.3m

As a result, in the vicinity of Nagano City, where the bank of the Chikuma River broke down, the inundation covered an area of ​​about 5 kilometers north and south on the west side of the river.

The inundation depth was 2 to 3 meters in a wide range in the Hoho area along the river, and the largest in the Akanuma area where the “Nagano Shinkansen Vehicle Center” where vehicles from the Hokuriku Shinkansen were submerged. It seems that it was about 4.3 meters.

Around Abukuma River Up to 5.2m

Among the flooded areas around the Abukuma River, in Koriyama City, Fukushima Prefecture, the west residential area where the Abukuma River and the tributary Awase River join together is inundated within a range of about 1.5 km east to west, and the depth of inundation is maximum. It was about 3 meters.

In Kuwaori Town, Fukushima Prefecture, the depth is estimated to reach a maximum of approximately 5.2 meters.

Around Naka River Up to 7.2m

On the other hand, in the flooded area around the Naka River, in Mito City, residential areas and fields were inundated for about 5 km from north to south.

The depth of inundation is expected to reach 2 to 4 meters in residential areas, and it is considered to reach a maximum of 7.2 meters on the south side of Mito Kita Smart Interchange where the fields spread.
