Guo Shaochun said in his speech that the Spring Festival originated from China and belongs to the world. It has increasingly become a window and bridge for exchanges and mutual learning among civilizations. Starting in 2022, the San Diego Zoo will hold Lunar New Year celebrations every year to allow visitors to experience the Spring Festival culture. The San Diego Zoo is not only a promoter of cultural exchanges, but also a leader in wildlife conservation cooperation. As the first zoo in the United States to carry out giant panda conservation research cooperation with China, it has made positive contributions to the cause of giant panda conservation and the friendship between the Chinese and American peoples.

Pan Libang said that in the past 30 years, we have maintained close cooperation with our counterparts in the field of animal and plant protection in China. This friendship inspires us: by working together, we can make the planet we live together a better place and make people's future better.

Later, Guo Shaochun and Pan Libang presented dragon and giant panda souvenirs to tourists and distributed New Year red envelopes. Many people lined up to receive Spring Festival gifts. People also hang red wishing ribbons with New Year's wishes written on kumquat and peach blossom branches. Guo Shaochun’s wishing belt reads: “The friendship between the Chinese and American peoples will last forever!”

On the same day, students, teachers and parents from an elementary school in Los Angeles also came to the San Diego Zoo Safari Park to experience the Spring Festival culture. The children were full of curiosity about the Spring Festival, and experienced the art of Chinese paper-cutting. They wrote their wishes in front of the wishing tree while holding the "dragon" and "giant panda" they had just received, and spent a "Chinese New Year" happily. (over)
