Texas Governor orders National Guard soldiers to deploy on the border with Mexico (French)

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton rejected a federal request to withdraw security forces from a border area that was previously a corridor for irregular migrants.

According to American media, the Texas National Guard set up barriers to obstruct the passage of immigrants who wanted to enter the United States illegally, and ordered them to return to Mexico via the Rio Grande River.

Local officials accuse the federal government of not doing enough to deter infiltration into the country, but President Joe Biden's administration responds that the state of Texas prevents the Border Guard from conducting patrols and handling immigrant affairs.

The Republican Governor of the US state of Texas, Greg Abbott, ordered hundreds of National Guard soldiers to deploy on the border with Mexico, in anticipation of an expected migration wave after the expiration of measures previously taken during the Corona virus crisis in the past few years.

This step comes in response to former President Donald Trump's call for Republican-led states to cooperate together to combat the problem of irregular immigration on the southern border, an issue that Republicans said Biden is failing to deal with properly.

As Trump and the Republican governors escalated their confrontation with the Biden administration, fears of a civil war ravaging the country increased.

White House officials refrained from saying whether President Biden had considered federalizing the Texas National Guard, amid his clash with the Texas governor.

American cities on the border with Mexico - which are 3,100 kilometers long - are facing a large influx of immigrant groups.

The Border Administration said that in the last months of 2023, the number of migrants reached about 10,000 migrants per day.

Republicans constantly use the immigration issue to attack their opponents from the Democratic Party, and it is expected that these criticisms will intensify as the presidential elections approach.
