British maritime security company Ambrey announced on Saturday that a commercial ship had been attacked in the Arabian Sea, and confirmed that the ship and its crew were safe.

The British company said that gunmen on a small boat exchanged fire with a security team on a ship transporting goods after they approached it suspiciously.

She explained that the boat approached the tanker a distance of 300 meters before returning to the ship from which it departed, and that the accident occurred 700 nautical miles southeast of Salalah in the Sultanate of Oman.

For its part, the British Maritime Trade Operations Authority said that it had received a report about an accident involving a small boat and a commercial ship 780 nautical miles east of Hafun, Somalia.

The authority explained that the boat approached 300 meters from the tanker, noting that the security team on board the ship fired warning shots and the boat retreated after an exchange of fire.

It is noteworthy that the region extending from the Gulf of Aden to the Arabian Sea and even the Indian Ocean witnessed operations targeting ships on the international maritime trade route, in conjunction with attacks launched by the Ansar Allah Houthi group in the Red Sea against Israeli ships or heading to Israeli ports, which raised question marks about The party behind these operations.

The Houthis have adopted many operations that targeted Israeli ships or those related to Tel Aviv, but similar operations, whether in the Red Sea, the Gulf of Aden, or the Arabian Sea, were not adopted by any party.
