In a letter on Tuesday, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán invited Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson (M) to talk about the NATO application.

The proposed location was Hungary.

"Strong mutual trust must be the basis for political or security agreements between Sweden and Hungary," he wrote, among other things.

On X, he added that it would involve negotiations, but Foreign Minister Tobias Billström replied that it would not be an issue.

- I see no reason to negotiate in this situation, he said in a meeting with the press on Tuesday.

Now Ulf Kristersson has answered Orbán.

He writes that he agrees that more dialogue between the countries would be beneficial.

And writes that he is happy to come to Budapest for further discussion, but also that they have the opportunity to speak in Brussels on February 1 at the European Council meeting.
