Lavrentyev said this following the results of the 21st meeting on Syria in the Astana format.
“As far as we know, the American side has declared its readiness to meet the demands of Iraq and Baghdad and begin the withdrawal of the American military contingent,” the presidential special envoy noted.
His words are quoted by TASS.
He added that it is still difficult to judge how realistic this is.
According to him, this process may drag on for a long time, “if not even years.”
Lavrentyev also said that the United States does not seek to withdraw its military contingent from Syria.
